Any high school students in Florida area are welcome to apply for our program, despite students’ experiences in cybersecurity. Our summer camp will be able to accommodate 30 participants.

Accepted students will participate in a 2-week hybrid summer camp at no cost. Virtual meetings will take place from Monday to Thursday in the mornings each week and students will come to UF campus on Fridays for a whole day activity. Friday will include direct instruction, a review session to recap what was covered previously, and answer any questions that are difficult to address virtually. Students will also visit research facilities and participate in panels for postsecondary and career awareness activities.

Students must make a commitment to attend and participate for the entire session. Please confirm no other academic, school-related, sports, or family events will conflict with the program dates.

To complete the application, you need:

1. A 500-750 words of personal statement addressing the following prompt: Why do you want to participate in our program? How does participating our program help you fulfill your life/study goals? You will be asked to submit the personal statement in step 2.
2. A complete application form via the link.
3. A copy of your transcript (optional)
4. One recommendation letter is required. The letter shall be completed and submitted by your reference, commenting on the student’s overall performance, interests and potential.
• • We encourage you to ask high-school or college-level math, science, research, or computer science teachers who know you well.

Applicants who submitted a complete application form and one reference letter will be considered for our program.

Applications will be reviewed by our Selection Committee. This review process can take 1-2 weeks, so please be patient. Each member of our committee carefully reads each application, transcript, and teacher endorsement we receive. This process takes time. Frequent calls can slow this process. Once we have reached a decision, we will send out an email through gencyberuf2022@gmail.com.
